Amor tierno, puro y sincero, eres

dope lyrics

Technology turning the planet into zombies
Everybody all in everybody's dirty laundry
Acid rain, earthquakes, hurricane, tsunamis
Terrorist, crime sprees, assaults, and robberies
Cops yellin' stop, freeze
Shoot him before he try to leave
Air quality so foul, I gotta try to breath
Endangered species
And we runnin' out of trees
If I could hold the world in the palm of these
Hands, I would probably do away with these anomalies
Everybody checkin' for the new award nominee
Wars and atrocities
Look at all the poverty
Ignoring the prophecies
More beef than broccoli
Corporate monopoly
Weak world economy
Stock market topplin'
Mad marijuana oxycotton and klonopin
Everybody out of it?

Rushing=more sweat

"Any time you have an opportunity to make a difference in this world and you don't, then you are wasting your time on Earth."

-Roberto Clemente

There is a heat advisory warning in the Washington DC area, effective until 8pm this evening. The 100 degree temperatures mean two things for me: i) wear more deodorant and ii) slow down.

Slooooooooooooowwww down .....

Seasons

I absolutely adore living in a climate with seasons. While most people love consistent, warm weather, I'm much more interested in having a little climate variety.

Part of appreciating different seasons means celebrating the moment.

I hope that everyone enjoys their 4th of July weekend!! Let the celebrations begin!

Television

One of my close friends posted on her blog that she is trying to sell her T.V. because she doesn't watch it anymore. I almost gasp! I thought to myself " how will she unwind at the end of the day" and " how lonely" she will feel.

I don't know about you, but I'm a case of what I like to call, the" low key" T.V. dependence. I find that I spend more time in the apartment with the TV on ( volume at a moderate level), while I perform other activities (I know I know, OK HORRIBLE use of energy) than I do actually watching it. There's something about its presence that makes me feel like I'm not alone. Sometimes it even feels like a party! (OK too far?)

The point I'm trying to make is that although I do consistently watch some T.V. shows, I think it's interesting that the initial shock of hearing that my friend doesn't want her T.V. anymore was more related to my T.V.-background noise dependence rather than an actual addiction to watching it. Am I alone here?

Until the next...

Robot Houses?

I recently had a conversation with my father about the development of "smart technology" in houses. The helpful apps and resources that some of us utilize through our smart [cell] phones will soon be installed in houses. I can't help but think about that Disney movie (gosh what is the name!?) where a family installs a robot into their house system and " she" talks, greets you when you enter the home and responds to any request, instantly. Creepy! I'm not one for Sci-fi stories, but this sounds pretty close to the story of the machine taking over the world!

This also makes me think about how lazy technology can allow us to be.

Until the next-
